Native Extensions Installer about installers HOT 3 CLOSED

The core team isn't unreceptive, it was just impossible to do it cross-platform until recently, and I hate to build platform-specific stuff for a platform-agnostic language.

I will give some update on that ticket as to the current state of things, if you want to help with it :)

So to answer my question - are there plans to implement this soon in the core or somewhere else?
If not, can this be implemented outside of composer core (in installers or somewhere else)?

If there is some effort to do this already - I could contribute there instead of trying to implement everything myself.

Update posted, and there are no "plans" per se because I can only plan so much ahead given the time constraints I have, but it's likely I won't have time to spend on this for a while still, so if you'd like to help then helping get that PR up to date and add windows support would be awesome. Getting it in core would definitely be better.
