This logic is a carryover from an earlier time when we tried to track start -> first completed time. Much of the flow logic is built around this and at this point is a large refactor to remove the technical debt. Ideally nothing happens until you send your final code. This will get reworked once we rebuild the app for a 2.0 version, which will happen once we have the resources.

Cheat detection happens on a solution grouping level, which only happens once the code is finalized - so there is an important gap here that must be closed. The workaround solution that I think can be done without a large refactor would be to automatically finalize a solution, with a grace period to allow for additional edits and time for the user to submit their chosen final solution. I'm thinking an hour grace period would be enough.

In this case, the user should probably not see other solutions until either he or the automatic process finalizes the solution. Otherwise one could use a cheating solution, then take a working solution (with some trivial changes) and finalize the solution within the grace period with actual content.

This is fixed to the point that a user no longer sees their solution until they click submit final.

I've clicked "Submit Final" solution for https://www.codewars.com/kata/grasshopper-grade-book and I can't see my solution too.
