Great idea, but that is a significant change. If you want to take a stab at it and propose it back in a pull request, I'll examine it. But it's not something on my near term radar due to time.

It might be easier to push all your notifications to an object first, which you can then sort. Then for each item in the object call a toast and use the onHidden method to update the sort every time a toast is closed

With the items also belonging to an object, you can enumerate the count for each kind and display that as you see fit
