workaround; switch your dns in the bosh-configuration an redeploy your bosh environment. The apps will stay at your older *.xip.io dns name. Afterwards you're able to reconfigure/delete the app.

This is why we separate app domain from system domain in production. For run.pivotal.io, the api is at api.run.pivotal.io and apps are under cfapps.io.
from cli.
The problem is that getting started tutorials usually recommend to use xip.io as a common domain. And then if you have developers pushing an app to your POC-CF with the domain "api" you get this "weird" error and nothings works anymore and it's not obvious why it doesn't work. So one debugs for days, till it becomes clear what happened.
It is clear that in a production environment you will use different domains (even from a security perspective), but you won't do that in your little poc environment, which will be your first experience and impression of CF.
