Hi,
This is definitely not the intended behaviour and we are taking a close look to this problem. I think it's not cctrl app's fault, but a cloudControl's API auth issue.
For the record, it's not mandatory to deploy in order to read the logs, any command that interacts with the API would unlock this issue, for instance by running cctrlapp appname/default details.

we deployed a fix for this on our API, a cctrl upgrade it's not needed.
Please, confirm that you can read the logs again, so we can close the issue.

Confirmed, tested at 3 different deployments with log [error, access, deploy] respectively. 👍
