The behavior originally was to delete the _SpecRunner.html and helper files all the time, but that has been changed so they stick around if the tests fail so they can be inspected and debugged in the browser if necessary.
I submitted a PR to your repo to fix the issues, but the one that probably caused you the biggest headache was that you were using an old RC version of grunt which had a different file src api.
If you had that updated the rest of the troubleshooting probably would have went more smoothly.
