The reason the binding is on $(window).on('load') instead of $(document).ready() is so you can set $.minicolors.settings variables before the controls initialize. I don't have a problem using ready, but it will probably require that a method be added to modify the settings variable.

I'll take a look at this in a few days when I get back from traveling.

I think it would be much more flexible if developer invoked $.minicolors.init() manually. It's really not a big deal, to add one line of js to page (at timing developer finds best, either on document ready, or window load or inline).
This way developer has a chance to change $.minicolors.settings.
