Ohh, sorry for missing that @fredck - that will work for me, thanks!

My intention was making the interface cleaner and in my opinion it looks way better without that bar. Itโ€™s also true that I always drop or paste images, so I donโ€™t need that, unlike you. At least we have the image button inside the kebab toolbar.

If you donโ€™t mind, I would prefer to leave this open for a while, to give a chance for people to ๐Ÿ‘ for it.

I have a following use case: I'm using screentogif app for gif capturing. It does have an option to export GIF to clipboard (that's useful if you don't want to put temp stuff all over your disk).

BUT it does a rather bad job on exporting this format, as inspecting the clipboard shows no sign of GIF and browser recognizes the image as a PNG. Maybe it correctly sores it as a GIF with CF_BITMAP mime type, and the browser does a poor job of converting it (though I doubt it), IDK didn't investigate it that deeply.

However it does properly puts a gif into temp file which will be automatically cleaned up by the OS. And having this option I could use it to quickly paste file name into file picker dialog.

Here's a clipboard dump for reference (note that's the rawest of raw clipboard dumps possible, from OS before being processed by the browser):

@mlewand, just want to be sure that you are aware of the above and that you think that the original GH bar is a better solution.

Btw, I never knew that the GH bar acts as a button until I started working in the GitHub RTE integration (#discoverability).

I still find this PITA. I do not use dnd. I was used to use the file browser which requires less mouse interaction for me. With this solution, inserting an image takes more time.
