I can confirm. Today, I faced the exact same issue and was only able to fix it by "downgrading" to XCA 2.4.0.

Also, i checked with 2K, 4K, SHA254, SHA384, even with md5. Always the same error "digital envelope routines::unsupported algorithm" pops up.

Sadly, I have not been able to reproduce the issue, when creating a RootCA/Issueing-CA from scratch in version 2.5.0. I assume that this only happens to XDBs/CAs that have been created years ago. (Mine is about 7 years old.) For sure, I cannot share my xdb -.-
