I think you can just set canShowCallout to NO (the default).

That didn't work for me. I am trying to disable the annotations in a custom method, not the view for annotation method. Do you have any other suggestions for how to approach this?

Hello, I am sorry for the delay. I have been working on another problem. I was able to solve this problem. I appreciate your help. I did have one more question- do you know or have a guess as to how many annotations the code will perform with? I know you have tested with 8000 and said it performed fine. Just wondering. Thank You

Glad you found a solution for your problem.

The example in the project includes a configuration with 80,000 (four zeros) items (switch to US data in the example's settings UI). In my tests, performance was fine on an iPhone 4S. Make sure you also configure cellSize to a value that provides good performance.
