Ideally, for deleting a project and dataset, we'd add warnings to the existing "confirm delete" messages. One issue with this is our use of the deleteConfirm()
view helper, which does not give us the ability to add messages; but it wouldn't be too hard just to write the deleteConfirm()
markup in longhand.
For the sync dataset warning we'd need to calculate the difference between the current state and future state of the items to find out which items will be removed and how many records will be deleted. This is a tall order for a synchronous process. Perhaps a message that underscores the potential for data loss is sufficient.
As for deleting a field: when a user flags an existing field for deletion we should provide a clear warning that values may be permanently lost. We could calculate the number of values that will be lost, but it, too, is a tall order for a synchronous process. Perhaps a message that underscores the potential for data loss is sufficient.

Closing this issue since deletion implies a destructive act, and the sync warning was addressed in c46ca31.
