"ORCID in metadata" seems natural, but "ORCID OAuth" for logging in? This would not permit us to distinguish between an ATLAS physicist and a CMS physicist, say, in order to show appropriate restricted content. The CERN OAuth login method, together with CERN e-groups system to define group membership, should be enough to identify users?

Is there a way to connect the CERN OAuth to an ORCID? Some kind of look up table that adds the ORCID automatically to the metadata then? So once you share it/ push it to other systems, the ORCID information is there without any extra manual effort. I think that's more what we have it mind.

Is there a way to connect the CERN OAuth to an ORCID?

For this, the best way would probably be to enrich the CERN personal database in order to include ORCIDs of people at the source, right next to CERN IDs and CCIDs. But that's bigger than our project...

That kind of enrichment would help in a few places.
Maybe we can ask just to get the ball rolling.

I'm 👍 on asking. @suenjedt @pherterich Shall you start this from the "scientific information management" side?

I am all in for asking, Sure. Let me ping Jens once I am back in the office.

Discussions are ongoing. Jens is informed. I will track progress. But closing the issue for now. As mentioned above, it is about enriching the metadata predominantly and build the connections to the open portals.
