Currently, sip-4.18.1 and pyqt-5.6.2 are used. Maybe updating it to sip-4.19.8 and pyqt-5.9.2 solves the glitches?

To be precise current issues are:
- SVG icons not rendering at all
- IPython console not able to handle errors correctly (solved in ipython/ipykernel#376)

Confirmed, adjustment of QApplication.libraryPaths is needed before importing anything else:

Yes, it works even now but some icons do not show up and the installation procedure is kind of complicated.
