💭 I guess there could be an exported method in our Wasm module, "trap_reason()", returning either 0 or a pointer to a string explaining what happened. Inside the module, this would amount to setting some global when an error has happened.

Ah this is indeed unfortunate! I think there may not be a great way to do this right now unless you want to create the trap up-front instead of afterwards (but that's pretty funky).

Yeah I've thought about that, but for concrete use cases, it' would be nicer to have "file-such-and-such:10 conflict in obj blah" than "conflict", and the latter is the only one I think we could create upfront. 😬

Recently I've been thinking about Wasmtime's APIs, and this is definitely something I'd like to getting to fix. I've posted a proposal for changing APIs and this issue will be fixed as a side-effect of that.

Ok this was fixed in #81 where creating a trap no longer requires a store.
