Commit 9711597 added the ability to specify a custom data directory in the environment variable BRIGHTWAY2_DIR, e.g.:

> export BRIGHTWAY2_DIR=/my/custom/directory
> ipython
IPython 4.0.1 -- An enhanced Interactive Python.

In [1]: from brightway2 import *
Using environment variable BRIGHTWAY2_DIR for data directory:
/my/custom/directory

This directory must already exist.

I also found a way to set permanently an environment variable locally for a conda virual env, so do not have to set BRIGHTWAY2_DIR any time I activate the enviro, see
