This is coming from the underlying library and not GearmanManager. It simply means the connection died between the worker and daemon for some reason.

Sorry for the lack of context. I was frustrated enough with my progress that randomly posting the warning as an issue was calming.

The warning occurred whenever code was updated or I restarted the gearman-manager. Stopping the gearman manager, and starting the gearman-manager again did not cause the warning.

Not sure if it's something you still want to look into. I just felt I owed you an explanation.

Yes, this is why I maintain my own Net_Gearman (that I need to push into PEAR) and this is my solution. https://github.com/brianlmoon/net_gearman/blob/master/Net/Gearman/Worker.php#L268

Yes, I know too much about pecl::gearman and pear::Net_Gearman after my adventures last week. I started with gearman from apt and pecl, wound up with the pear package and installing libgearman from source. And I still got that warning.

You pointing that out does give me a bit of closure though. I can see now that the reason I was having the issue was because my gearman-manager was out of date (my version doesn't have the @) . Since then I've found a solution that doesn't involve gearman. But it's good to know if I need to come back to it, I know how to fix it.

Thanks for you help.

That is not GearmanManager, but Net_Gearman which I also maintain. I have just not pushed my version into PEAR.

Ah. Yeah. I keep getting mixed up. Thanks.

Is there anyway to keep this error from coming up. My version of Net_Gearman does include the @ on the function call? I too get this error when I update code. I have even tried HUP the GearmanManager process through supervisord.
