No, it is not possible to set this for a specific function. That is not currently exposed via configuration in GearmanManager either. If you add it, I welcome the patch. It would have to be per process though. Processes handling more than one function would all have the same timeout for all functions.

Since it's not possible to specify a job server on a per-worker level in gearman manager, I am planning to just write one of my workers in non-gearman manager format, run it on a separate machine, and point it to the machine where the job server and the other gearman manager workers are (using GearmanWorker::addServer() ).
Machine A: Job server + gearman manager + gearman manager workers
Machine B: Regular gearman worker configured to pick jobs from Machine A
Will there be any conflict?

Why not just run multiple GearmanManager instances with separate ini files? That would be much simpler.
