I may have a fix for this: it seems that simply calling end_short_jump BEFORE as<void*>(*edi-offset0) = nullptr; fixes the issues and does not cause any regression on both Mac and windows (32/64-bit). Does it make sense?

I removed some old, unnecessary code from call_viaAS and optimized the nullptr line. That should make it small enough that you should no longer see an issue.
