The right solution to this in my opinion is that the master thread is in charge of all writing to the log file but that the slave nodes pass their log messages back to the master. This would be relatively easy to do with C MPI API but may be less obvious in Python?

This is not relevant after the changes to the C version of vbgmm and the removal of MPI from the python part of concoct
