Yes, Google Drive realtime API... The problem is that the files created are not portable (not text files), so it wouldn't be possible to edit them outside the web app (I don't even know how it could work offline). But I agree it could be a nice alternative for synchronization especially for collaborative work. Are you using StackEdit in enterprise?? I started to develop this app for my personal use...

If I'm honest: I had plans to write such a thing on my own (with collaboration support) but then found your project.
I'd use it in enterprise if it would support things like that. But perhaps I soon got some time to contribute to your project. (?)

I would use this more at my office if it offered collaboration support. What I've been doing is writing in StackEdit, copying to a Google Doc to share with someone, then copying back to export the HTML, which is obviously a major hassle.

this is a really great tool - +1 to collaborative edit pushing it over the edge to godliness.

+1 for collaboration support
@conoremclaughlin and I just clobbered each others' changes =P
But otherwise, great app! Thanks for creating it!

Just commited my work on this.
Real time collaboration has to be enabled when exporting to Google Drive. So this is not the default mode for Google Drive synchronization because of some limitations and network traffic...
from stackedit.
If we import from Google Drive, can we enable synchronization?
from stackedit.
No, the document has to be exported from StackEdit with the real time mode. Basically, your existing documents don't have the correct mime type. But you can open it, then reexport it using the new mode.
Note: since the new mode doesn't support multiple sync locations, you will have to unassociate the old file using the dialog Manage synchronization
.

Thanks a lot for your implementation. I just tried it out with a friend and we noticed two things.
- The scrolling behavior is very disruptive. If someone else scrolls or edits the document you scroll to that location or something like that. I haven't figured out the behavior completely.
- More as a little bonus: It would be very nice to see the cursor of your coworkers like in GoogleDrive. Perhaps also colored.
Thats it for now and thanks again for your great work!

- on firefox is it? I don't notice any such problem on Chrome.
from stackedit.
We both, my coworker and me, experienced the problem with Chrome on OSX
from stackedit.
I'm on OSX as well (10.8.4). Are you running chrome version 28.0.1500.71?
from stackedit.
Yup. Somebody else encountering that scroll issues?
from stackedit.
By the way can you play with the Realtime Playground and tell if you can reproduce the problem there?

Hello, I really love this and as others have said I was planning to build something but then saw your awesome work and I am really like it.
Is there a way you can make it realtime collaborative by default when you create the document FROM google drive?
I mean, it is okay that if you go to http://benweet.github.io/stackedit/ and create a document you don't have Google Drive realtime... but can you detect when the file is created from google?
thanks
from stackedit.
I don't really like the idea because:
- I have to set realtime sync for all new Google Drive documents for all users (I don't think you can pass a parameter to StackEdit from Google Drive).
- Or I have to make it configurable in the application settings, but it won't be consistent from one browser/pc to another.
from stackedit.
Whats wrong with setting realtime as default?
from stackedit.
Hi @schickling
Thanks for your review on Chrome Web Store. I will fix the realtime checkbox as soon as possible but I am in the middle of a new major version. I'll keep you in touch.

I close this one. "Setting realtime as default" is fixed.
