Error type-hinting in controller about laravel-enum HOT 1 CLOSED

Hi @nmsmith22389. Because the enum must be passed a valid value in order to be instantiated the error you see is expected. Type hinting in the package is intended as a way to safely pass around enum instances which have already been instantiated.

At this point, the container in your app has no idea how to create the enum instance from your request, but you can tell it how to do so using binding:

{
    $this->app->bind(Scope::class, function () {
        return new Scope(request('YOUR_REQUEST_PARAMETER'));
    });
}

I would not use this approach though, and would instead use a form request class and one of the packages validation methods. You can then instantiate in the form request or controller itself.
