Should an empty .feature file cause Gherkin to fail? about gherkin HOT 4 CLOSED

Empty feature file (without Feature: keyword) is parsed into nothing (null), as there's simply no feature in this file. And yeah, if you're trying to call some method on nothing (null), you'll get an exception.

But if Gherkin itself throws you this exception, then something seems broken.

I only encountered this when I ran bin/behat after someone had committed an empty file into our project's Features folder. I'll look into this to see if it's already addressed in gherkin master. (We're currently using gherkin 2.1.1 and behat 2.3.5)

Yeah, most likely it's fixed with 2.2.1. I'm closing this one - open a new issue if Gherkin class will throw exceptions at you on empty features.
