Seriously though, this is pretty badass. As far as I know, I'm the only app on all of OS X that does this. And it works flawlessly. Good idea, guys.

Got a way to automatically figure out if OS X is in Dark Mode.
@guymeyer Can you give me the new .icns
file (in Dropbox) for BOTH the Black and White versions of the icon? You mentioned that the brackets are skinnier in larger sizes in the new design and I still have the *.icns
file from last fall without those. Also: we need to play around with that because I don't know what happens when a user has magnification enabled on the Dock --- I think OS X might grab the larger size from the *.icns
file and then scale it down so that it can magnify it without any pixelation. This means that it might grab the larger images with thinner brackets and then scale those down to fit the Dock. That would likely be bad; I like the thickness of the brackets in the Dock icon now, at normal size.

Or add a white border like Safari, iTunes...?
from codekit.
Could do, i actually think the size is slightly too small... Just checked its about 15px smaller than say the Safari icon. Also I have attached a white version for ye (white border didn't do it for me)
I should probably get on and actually submit some real bugs eh!

There's a white one that exists -- I think we just looked at the fact most dock icons don't change for dark mode. I'll talk to Bryan tonight about it.

@matt3224 we talked about it -- Don't think theres a way to auto change the icon if you're in dark mode...short term fix is we will supply a (official) white version someone can use to replace the black version.

Awesome, I moved to the dark side some time ago and doubt i'll be going back. Yeah I agree I don't think Apple provide any sort of api to check if dark mode is on or off, yet. Thanks.

Mother. Of. God. This was way more complex than I anticipated.
Spent 4 hours today getting this to work reliably. In Beta 2, CodeKit will now shift dock icons automatically whenever the menu style changes—even when CodeKit itself is not running.
This is why I never ship anything.

I think you are right man, good work!
