@mstanton1 Adding the BA ticket #21998 for scenario of a SI listed as a error.

Scenario 1: An individual reporting to BC Registry that they should not be listed as an SI on a company’s TR:

  • A SI should always reach out to the business first to inform the company of the new or different information about them. Company has 15 days to update TR with new information
  • Communication to only provide PUBLICLY available information about an SI
  • Provide one piece of company contact information (registered office address)
  • If the person contacts the company, and the company does not resolve the issue the following are options for resolving the dispute between the SI and the company:
  • The SI can be directed to the enforcement officer (yet to be establish whether Registrar works with EO or citizen contacts the EO on their own)
  • The Registrar, in working with the enforcement officer or not, can order the company to change the information filed in the RTR if the Registrar is satisfied with the proof they receive that the individual should not have been added as an SI
  • The SI can be directed to apply to the courts to have the filing corrected.

Would it be desirable for the citizen to contact BC Registries regarding removal of SI from RTR or have a web-based form created for citizen to fill out.
For e.g., have a link to a form in the email notifying citizen they have been listed as an SI.
Key is to have the request in writing; may not be a formal form, but some way of tracing the request in writing.

Scenario 2: citizen calls in that they tried to contact business to correct their legal name, birth year and/or citizenship but has not received a response. Registrar and EO may be satisfied with proof (e.g. ID) to prove and make the update. This process will be determined later on.

@Apt766525 for scenario #2 should this be generalized to include any other fields? In theory the SI could complete a public search which includes their legal name, birth year and citizenship. In that search they may find an error in any of those fields?

@mstanton1 Thats right. The scenario 2 should be generalized to include other fields and can report an error in any of the displayed fields.
