I forgot to mention:
I use avrdude5.0 for Win32.
I downloaded this from Avr "Super-Project"

Can you describe a bit more about your environment?
I've been using -vvvv quite frequently, and never observed a
problem with it.
Perhaps, you can add a full log file.

I attached two log files per your request.
One showing avrdude doing fine. (3x -v)
One making avrdude fail. (4x -v)

This is a bug in ser_send() on Windows, but not Unix (ser_win32.c vs ser_posix.c). The bug is that the buffer index and the buf itself are incremented within the char output loop and by the time execution reaches the point where the buffer itself needs to be output, the counters have been updated, and thus there is no more data to output. A temporary variables need to be used for the verbose output loop instead of the originals.

Hello,
Tested Brian Dean's patch on the mailing list, now it works with 3,4, or 16 v's. Commited to CVS.
