Feature: adding third-party recipes about autopkg HOT 3 CLOSED

I wrote a long reply to this a couple of hours ago, and now it's missing. So I'll summarize.

1. Maybe support only git clones (at least initially). If you want to publish recipes, make a publicly available git repo.
2. An arbitrarily deep directory structure under ~/Library/AutoPkg/Recipes might make searching for recipes difficult. How about:

autopkg add-recipes https://github.com/foo/recipes.git

git clones to ~/Library/AutoPkg/Recipes/com.github.foo.recipes

autopkg add-recipes https://code.google.com/p/greg-autopkg-recipes/

git clones to ~/Library/AutoPkg/Recipes/com.google.code.p.greg-autopkg-recipes

This would add a single new directory level to ~/Library/AutoPkg/Recipes/.

So replace slashes with dots.. makes sense. Less hierarchy to traverse, which is good.
