I think this may be the desired result. Pressing "+" creates a new note by design and it's up to the user to delete it. @mikejohnstn, is this how the iOS/OS X apps work and should we auto-delete blank notes÷?

This is indeed how the OSX app currently works, but I believe the
production iOS app will delete a blank note. @tomwitkin thoughts?

yep — the production app and the revised iOS 7 app both delete the note before going back to the list if it's blank, which I think is definitely the way to go. I don't see any need to keep a blank note around. It's just as easy to create another new note than to click into an blank note.

Interestingly, on iPad and Mac, it's not so bad to see the new note linger
(and it might be weird to see it go away). Don't feel strongly about it
though

There's a difference on iPad and Mac, however, because the user can see a tangible reaction to them creating the note. The note already exists in their note list, so it really isn't thought of as spam if it doesn't delete. On the phone, where the note takes up the whole scree, the note was never viewed as something concrete. It was always just a blank screen.

I agree that it should be deleted if the new note is empty.

I've tested this and it appears I already fixed this :) Can you guys try it out? If you create a blank note and press back, it deletes it. It does however work to add a tag to the note, then press back and you're still presented with an empty row...
