@addyosmani I'm not married to any specific calendar. Originally went with it because it used backbone and it was quick to pull in. I'm not a huge fan of jQuery UI. If we do replace it, it should probably be in v2

JQuery UI should stay in my opinion. It gives nice idea how to use UI components.

Maybe we should just move jquery_ui dependency to apps/js/app.js? Second option is to move it to widget that is using JQuery UI. Definitely extension/backbone/facade.js isn't good place for that...

@dustinboston I'd be down with it staying until v2 :)

Follow-up question: do you think we should redo the demo application for V1 (e.g turn it into a demonstration of how to handle multi-view properly, perhaps keeping the same widgets and adding a few more) or should we launch with what we have at the moment?

@addyosmani I've been thinking about this. I think we should hold off. But in v2 it would be really sweet to do multiple views and also something that doesn't look like a page full of widgets. Maybe something like a blog layout... it would be good to communicate that this approach is useful for many types of applications, not just an iGoogle/Yahoo replacement.

@dustinboston That sounds reasonable. With that in mind, I think it would make sense for us to consider adding some more widgets to the existing page for V1. People have already seen our existing demo and I think it would be good to show them a few more. Weather and news are certainly easy enough to widgetize I think.

@addyosmani Sure thing. Any place you'd like to start for weather and news? Preferences or projects you like that you want to pull in? Or would you like to just put it together from scratch?

@dustinboston I think we can probably refactor existing widgets/plugins to suit our needs here :) I'll see what I can dig up!

Some ideas for the weather widget

This reminds me, we should probably credit the folks who's code I used for the calendar widget. shinetech/BackboneJsAndFullcalendar

I am loving the most badass weather widget ever :) Wonder how hard it would be to integrate!

(need to review how complex the codebase is too though. we don't want to scare people ; ))

Closing as we're using a very different app for the new version of aura in master.
