Hi, sorry I was caught up on OSDC.tw conference. Back now.

The main issue seems to be that .threadPool's idleThreads API (which we inherited from threads_a_gogo and is not part of WebWorkers) considers a "return" from thread.any.* as freeing up the thread for more work, hence nextTick will not mark the thread as idle.

Instead, use a plain while() loop seem to correctly flag the thread as occupied. I've forked your gist and created a version that works locally:

Please feel free to adjust the two intervals at https://gist.github.com/audreyt/5461504#file-gistfile1-js-L14 so that it works on your machine; from a local run I see fluctuating "idle threads" ticker as intended.
