@igrigorik thanks for pointing this out and others for chiming in. @dgpokl, as the most recent commenter, can I ask you to help confirm that this is still an issue? I'll be helping to clean up the vanity backlog over the next few weeks, and this seems to be in the top 5 issues.
I know that the team I work on uses vanity in production without redis at all. I'd be very happy to review/merge a pull request that implements this! Thanks.
