Ok - the issue is the รง is represented two different ways in UTF-8 - as just U+00E7 or as c followed by U+0327 (combining cedilla). This sort of thing will definitely be trouble for string matching... Hmm.

I did a bit of testing... The Safari browser does some sort of normalization of input UTF-8 so there's no way to have the form loaded with a string that matches the actual string used. Chrome however seems to allow the two input strings to be handled differently, so (as long as you don't mind running things twice) just using Chrome and cutting and pasting the string as shown in the author list works fine. The real solution here is probably to use PHP internationalization/normalization functions, but I think this is not really a super important problem to tackle right now...
