Android mediacodec encoder about ffmpeg-kit HOT 4 CLOSED

Have you tested that module? How fast is it compared to libx264?

It seems like it is a JNI based solution. ffmpeg calls MediaCodec's Java Encoder to encode h264 over JNI. I'm not sure how this design can be faster than libx264. I also see that only a small number of colour formats are supported.

I have only tested the test app on play store, i haven't done a benchmark with libx264..

Well, I don't think a full benchmark is necessary. What we need to see is how much time it takes to encode the same file using that project. This will show us whether it is faster than libx264 or not.

Besides that, supported colour formats is an issue. Spending time to integrate a module which supports only a small set of formats doesn't make sense.
