See here how to do submodules:
Then in your playbook you only need to reference the relative part to the repo,
and vagrant up will do the rest for you :)

This is what I was talking about when I said "can be integrated within galaxy.yml". This is really nice.

I referenced the roles I used (please see url tag in file https://github.com/ARTbio/ansible-artimed/blob/master/.gitmodules) as git submodules. The submodules are registered in the directory https://github.com/ARTbio/ansible-artimed/tree/master/galaxy_vm/roles as reference links. FYI, to clone this repo with the roles "git clone --recursive" command must be used.
