mbed-os is a library, not a program. This means that there is no main() entry point in mbed-os. Even if the build system is invoked from tools/make.py and trigger compilation, the linker would complain that main() is missing.

Then build it as a .lib. We don't always build executables.

Building of libraries is handled by mbed-os/tools/build.py. May be take a look at the script build and see how you can use it. Suggestions are very welcome how to wrap that functionality as neo command. Perhaps neo compile --build or rather neo build?
