I have been trying to check this out for a few days without success.

Using the https://review.appunite.com/androidffmpeg asks for a password.

Using only github, I was still receiving the same password requirements when performing 'git submodule update'

from androidffmpeg.

Im sorry for late response but I was on holidays.

It's wired because it is anonymous repository. I tested it a minute ago and everything works without password. Are you using command:
GIT_SSL_NO_VERIFY=true git clone https://review.appunite.com/androidffmpeg
?

maybe you have outdated git command?
