Try to:

cd ~
git clone https://github.com/anmoljagetia/Flatabulous.git
cd Flatabulous
git checkout gtk-320
sudo ln -s `pwd` /usr/share/themes/

Then pick Flatabulous in Unity tweak tool or whatever.

Not sure about Gnome but same thing happened to me in Xfce.
Solved by installing 'gtk-engine-murrine'.

There's no official support for Gnome, only Unity.

@indriApollo Will probably get to this later, once I can get around the unity issues. I have been increasingly getting less time, because I am in a new country, however, thanks for reporting this! I will try and get to this, once the Unity basic issues are fixed!

These issues don't look gnome-shell specific - see whats happened to Nautilus in the screenshot.

This is probably Gtk 3.20 and its CSS theming changes.

At home I use Ubuntu+Gnome Staging and on upgrade have exactly the same effect in Nautilus sidebar and breadcrumbs bar - and this is with a different theme.

GTK 3.20 have soo many changes. I guess would be this will take time. Also Ubuntu is moving to Mir / unity8 in next release (probably) so I don't see the point in trying to keep up with gnome shell. Though that's @anmoljagetia decision.

Defman21 avatar Defman21 commented on August 17, 2024

AFAIK GTK 3.20 broken any compatibility with older versions because they replaced classes with tags (so .notebook is notebook now) so I don't see any reasons to support Gnome Shell but Unity 8.

@Defman21 it really does seem to to be that simple.. I'm surprised they didn't make a conversion tool... is there a widget list somewhere? I could probably make some sort of script myself to do this.
