Hmm, how odd. Maybe it's a register problem somehow. Debugging will be difficult for me, since I don't have a Mac, so I would appreciate your help in figuring out the problem.

To start off, could you try opening a buffer with the text one (two three), put the cursor on two and then execute the command :call sj#ReplaceMotion('vi(', 'four five')? The result should be one (four five), but if sj#ReplaceMotion is not working, I guess it's not going to happen. The important part is trying this out with different values of clipboard. Try :set clipboard=, :set clipboard=unnamed, :set clipboard=unnamedplus and repeat the process of calling sj#ReplaceMotion. It would also help if you let me know your current value of the clipboard setting.

Any progress on this issue?

Yes; I didn't look into this for a while, but I recently upgraded my system Vim to a Homebrew copy, and it works well now. Is it possible the default system Mac doesn't do clipboard manipulation correctly?

Closing this.

Well, I can't say. I guess if someone else runs into the issue, they'll comment. Thanks for reporting, anyway :).
