can't start emulationstation, error message. about emulationstation HOT 3 CLOSED

Well, never seen this before!

You could try setting the SDL environment variable for audio driver (found here) to alsa - the command should be something like export SDL_AUDIODRIVER alsa. Beyond that, I'm not sure - try recompiling, perhaps?

I noticed 'pulseaudio' was running when doing ps -a .. every attempt at killing the PID failed as it just respawned itself.. i ran pulseaudio --kill and it said it wasn't running.. i'm assuming it's used by RaspBMC somewhere?

Anyway i found a way to kill it and now ES starts, but it's throwing errors about audio:

Error initialising AudioManager!
No available audio device

Any thought on this ?
