I'm not sure if a workaround would be creating an iPhone simulator with the latest iOS version so that something exists with the a valid deployment target.

In my case, I'm not able to make a simulator for iOS 10.2. I have one for 10.1. I suspect updating Xcode and creating a newer simulator would likely fix the issue, but I'm only one version behind and it's probably not that reasonable to expect everyone to be on the latest Xcode all the time—especially since it requires updating macOS which is surely something people should be free to do at their own pace (also consider: sometimes IT departments request you hold off on updates like that until they can vet everything).

@dcow Sorry you experienced problems! The version limit wasn't intentional, but a default by Xcode! Im not sure how this happened as I am also on 10.1 (I also take a long time to update myself.) and it runs ok over here. Hmmm.
Ill look into it!

Interesting. Let me know what you find or if you need help reproducing the issue. I can reproduce it from a clean checkout. Maybe you've got some local settings that I don't (or vice versa)?

So I kicked this "stone" (deployment target is too high) now at year of 2020. What was the followed up action done? The master is still showing 12.0 as deployment target.
Can lower the deployment version down to 9.0? @buba447
