As in, to clarify, python-magic would become python-magic2 or similar, and eyeD3 would get a patch making use of the new name, and then all the packages would be able to co-exist again.

Well, turns out it's more optional dep in eyeD3 than it looked at first, so it's not that big of an deal, but if you ever want the features of your library to be available to others... :)

It may be optional, but file detection is MUCH better with the majic dependency. A name change is necessary. Please.

@ssuominengentoo I am not sure why @ahupp would have to rename his code to accommodate downstream sideways specifics?

This project is 13 years old :) I'm leaning towards renaming the module, but cannot rename the package as I'm not the maintainer. That's up to individual distributions.
