Can you point me to a website with this error? I can not reproduce this on the official site (http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/).

I'm pretty sure you can fix this, by adding the following line, right after html5shiv:

html5.shivMethods = false;

I just tried adding the html5.shivMethods = false line to a site that I maintain and it did not make any difference, the text is still duplicating for me.

I can't reproduce the error either, but I currently only have access to an IE9 machine and the compat modes don't show the issue. Anyway, I've gotten 3-4 reports of this issue within the last 6 hours, and all of the sites have had HTML5 Shim installed. All of them started showing symptoms "very recently", around yesterday which would coincide with the latest release.

It's quite possible that a lot of sites are broken now.

You'll see that the version changed from 3 to 3.4 in one step. I'm in the process of working back through the tagged versions from GitHub and testing my site with each. I'll report back once I've found which version triggered the error...

Yes we agree the issue is happening. We are using the shim and have recently experienced the issue on IE7/IE8 only. We have turned cufon off, but can turn it back on in our test site to show what happens if you need to.

Ok, versions 3.4 and 3.3 exhibit the error for me, but 3.2 does not and the cufon replaced text displays fine.

For people who just want their sites to start working again ASAP, I would suggest downgrading to version 3.2 until the error is tracked down...

Having to temporarily replace with an old shiv, r25. This works, but will have to keep replacing them with other sites then roll back once it is resolved. Rather costly :S but it happens.

They did reply on twitter saying it was sorted but if you think
there's a bug, let me know once it's squashed.
