Perfect, downloads working now. Also I am able to choose a folder other than the Public Downloads folder (I chose Audiobooks) and its working well. Yet to test the syncing from phone to browser but listening locally has solved the syncing issue for my phone at least.

Thanks for the active Dev on this. Its bound to be very polished in the future

Hi @advplyr - I am experiencing the issue @Thoroslives has documented above.
Relevant details:

Pixel 6 Pro
Android 12
App version 0.9.54-beta
Server version (Docker) - I'll need to check (not in front of the server atm)
File name - 1990 - Four Past Midnight (4 novellas).mp3 (single file) 304.2MB
Local directory - Internal storage/Audiobooks (I have also tried Downloads)

The folder of the book is created and the cover is downloaded and I get the message : "Item download complete but failed to create library item"

I have tried other audiobooks and get the same result.

This had been working before.

Thanks
Tim

Can you try selecting the public download folder?
What version of Android on you running?

What do you mean? Could you elaborate?

In the folder picker you should see a Download folder. Does your folder picker look like this?

My apologies, it wont actually let me choose downloads so I had to make a subfolder within the downloads folder. Still only downloading the cover.

Uninstalled an reinstalled for good measure with the same result.

Yesterday it was shared that choosing a subfolder inside the downloads folder didn't work, but choosing the downloads folder did. That is a bug I still need to look into.

What is happening when you try to just choose the downloads folder?

Yeah saw that comment

What is happening when you try to just choose the downloads folder?

It's greyed out and says for your privacy choose another folder. (and no I'm not in the root directory, I'm in downloads when I try this)

When you first open the choose folder picker, does it look like the screenshot I posted here?

I know in Android 8 & 10 it looks completely different in terms of what folders are shown.

Yes it does as you can see its greyed out and states you can't use this folder

Update: So I managed to use Mixplorer to choose the Downloads as the target so I hit download the status bar shows its progress and the file explorer is showing a file being downloaded but once it finishes it creates a folder for the book but its empty. No idea whats going on now.

Also ove found that the progress doesnt sync if you pause while the app is in the background(Samsung optimization. Is off FYI) so thats probably a whole seperate issue, it meant I listened to the same 30 mins on the drive home today ugh.

I found an issue when downloading audiobooks of a single track, that I fixed in v0.9.12-beta soon to be available on the play store.
Also, there has been some fixes with the progress syncing. It is working much better, but still a little ways to go. Discussion on progress sync happening over here: advplyr/audiobookshelf#145

When you update re-select the folder because I added an additional permission check.
