hmm, -0.5 from my side, i am not sure i like the “(without doing anything)” part. i don’t mind explicit npm publish and github release.

At least for helix-cli I've always felt that things are a bit flaky, i.e. I don't get more than half of the releases right.

The npm run commit process also shifts the burden from the release manager to the person making the PR, so you don't have to scour over git log messages to find out what went into the release.

Additionally, the releases will be much smaller and more frequent, which is a plus, too.

we could try it in one of the libs, like helix-shared or helix-pipeline and see if people like it.
I would be reluctant of using it for helix-cli, though

Trying it on helix-shared sounds like a good idea so that more people get a feeling of the process.
