I think name functions more like an identifier to the artifact, such that upload-artifacts specifies the entire file or directory to upload under that identifier and download-artifact downloads the correct file/directory using the name identifier. However, path seems to be the directory file path in which the file/directory previously uploaded is downloaded.

Thanks for the input. You may be right, and in that case I believe we may want to rename name to identifier, or write a paragraph in the README explaining this situation to avoid confusion. What do you think?

I'd say update the README. Those who figured this out shouldn't have a need to update their code unless they make a breaking change here.
