Hi Casey,
I updated / corrected the documentation a bit.
You can connect host3 and host2 at the same time as host1, as then it will just start downloading the blockchain from host1, and the sooner that is done, the faster you can register and start the pool.
The address funding + address / pool registration cannot be done before the registration node is 99.99% synched with the blockchain.
I hope it makes sense.
