I am curious as to the reason you would not want the curtain ? The curtain prevents people form clicking around right ? .
Yes I can make it configurable. But a little detail about your use case would be helpful :)

So I am working on a web app where manipulation in one element effects the appearance of other elements. Ideally I would be able to encourage users to play around with the selected element and see the changes.
Your point about clicking the wrong things is well taken though so maybe what I need is the ability to select between a dark and clear curtain? I could just change the CSS but I would appreciate the ability to switch between backdrops in the same tour.

A solution that comes to my mind , is if I can take a curtainCSSClass as a part of each config step . Every step I can add that class to the curtain and remove the previous one .

Will this solve your problem ?

Yes, I think that would be the most customizable option. I presume that would still default to the built in curtain if an alternate is not provided?
