I guess this requires knowledge about source positions, which we don't have.

We have source positions when compiling with CO4.Compilation.compileFile (see #100).

So you want to execute the compiled program as usual, but the positions of known discriminants should be recorded (and printed afterwards)?

Profiling abstract programs now gives statistics about all evaluated case distinctions:

Cases:
((38,18),CaseProfileData {numEvaluations = 20, numKnown = 0, numUnknown = 20})
((96,15),CaseProfileData {numEvaluations = 31, numKnown = 13, numUnknown = 18})
((57,12),CaseProfileData {numEvaluations = 9, numKnown = 0, numUnknown = 9})
((55,14),CaseProfileData {numEvaluations = 9, numKnown = 0, numUnknown = 9})
...

where

  • the tuple denotes the position of the case distinction in the original program
  • CaseProfileData shows how often the discriminant was evaluated and how often the
resulting value was known or not

Note that this only works if the constraint was compiled with compileFile using the Profile and ImportPrelude flags.
