This is a multi-purpose tool used, essentially, to copy files from a Source (Src) location to a Destination (Dest). There are plenty of use cases where this might be necessary.
- Project deployment. Files on a development machine might be copied to a remote web server or hosted service.
- Backups. Simply copying a set of files from one location to another, so as to have multiple copies in case of the loss of the original files.
- Redundancy. Duplicating files in multiple locations to provide more pathways for accessing them.
- Consolidation. Using one service as a proxy for multiple other services.
