The last one works because it gets re-written to
SELECT DISTINCT (count(?property) as ?c) WHERE {
?s ?property <http://data.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/id/postcodeunit/LN50HW> .
?s a <http://crime.rkbexplorer.com/id/ReportedCrime> .
}
And that gets handled a parallel reverse bind operation.
Interesting that the straight SELECT works, but the COUNT doesn't - is there anything in /var/log/messages? The query engine might be segfaulting.
How many rows are there in the result? It could conceivably be an interger overflow, but it would have to be huge.

Now I think about it, someone else reported that the combination of FILTER and aggregates didn't work.
It's on the todo list to investigate.

I'll help with this sometime next week.

Cool, cheers.
I'm in the office more next week, so should be more reliably on #4store.
