You can use 5.7, it works for me. Change the line in Main.qml to "import QtMultimedia 5.7"

I did this however there was a significant amount of lag. Is this normal? I'm fairly sure my machine has the resources to handle it.

No, it works fine for me. Try getting the latest version (5.9) from their website, however I doubt that will fix it. Whats the speed of your internet connection? Try opening one of the videos in your browser and see if also lags
